Sheena Wellington is justifiably well-known as a singer of traditional and more recent Scottish songs. On this album she sings mainly traditional songs, including Burns’ A Man’s A Man; this track was recorded at the opening of the new Scottish Parliament, with SMPs singing along in the background! More recent compositions on the album include Karine Polwart’s Whaur Dae Ye Lie, and a setting of one of William Soutar’s poems to an Irish tune. Sheena is very ably accompanied by Pete Clark on fiddle, Neil Paterson on whistle, and Ewen Sutherland on guitar.
