Dick Gaughan is one of the most highly respected folk singers in the United Kingdom. He is also one of the most sought-after artists and commits himself to gruelling tours, both in the UK and abroad, particularly North America and Australia. At the end of March Dick will head off to Australia and on his return will include a tour of Germany in his busy Schedule.
Dick is an honest and committed artist who lists amongst his greatest influences Karl Marx, John Lennon, Hugh MacDiarmid, Jeannie Robertson, Ewan MacColl, Martin Carthy, John MacLean, Hamish Henderson and Robert Burns to name but a few.
Dick was recognised at the Scots Trad Awards in 2004 when he received the 'Scots Singer of the Year' award. He has also had several nominations for the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
