Dance devised by Jean Ferguson.

Widdershins is Scots for ‘in the direction contrary to the sun’s course’ i.e. anticlockwise.

1 – 8            1st couple set to each other and cast off one place, then dance half a figure of eight round the 3rd couple.

9 – 12           1st couple set and turn each other right hands to face their partner’s first corner.

13 – 16          1st couple dance half a reel of four with partner’s first corners, passing left shoulder to begin and passing left shoulders at the end to face their own second corners.

17 – 20          1st couple dance half a reel of four with their own second corners, passing left shoulder to begin and ending with 1st lady in the middle facing up in third place and 1st man in the middle facing down in second place.

21 – 24          1st couple turn each other left hands ¾ way round to second place on the opposite side.

25 – 26          All three couples cross the dance passing partners by the left shoulder.

27 – 30          All three couples dance ½ way round the dance to the left i.e. anticlockwise.

31 – 32          All three couples cross over giving left hand to partners.

Repeat from second place.
