Dance Instructions for GOOD FRIENDS      Jig                    4 x 32 

Dance devised by Leslie Broughton, February 1999.

                   On the 2^nd chord the 3^rd & 4^th couples cross right hand.

1 - 4             1^st with 2^nd couple, ALSO 4^th with 3^rd couple, dance rights & lefts ½ way round.

5 - 8             1^st & 4^th couple advance to meet in the centre & turn right hand into promenade hold, with the 1^st couple facing the ladies’ side & 4^th couple facing the men’s side, WHILST 2^nd & 3^rd couples cross right hand and set to partner.

9 - 16           1^st couple with 2^nd lady & 3^rd man, ALSO 4^th couple with 2^nd man & 3^rd lady, dance a reel of 3 on the sideline. To start, the 1^st couple & 3^rd man, ALSO 4^th couple and 2^nd man, pass by the right. The dancing couples finish in 2^nd places facing out with hands released, 1^st couple on ladies’ side & 4^th couple on the men’s side

17 - 20          4^th lady & 1^st man cast up to face down between 3^rd couple, WHILST 4^th man & 1^st lady cast off to face up between 2^nd couple, AND 2^nd & 3^rd couples change places right hand and set on the sideline.

 21 - 24         1^st man with 4^th lady, ALSO 4^th man with 1^st lady, advance for 2 bars then turn their partners by the right hand 1 ¼ times into promenade hold to finish 1^st couple facing out on the ladies’ side & 4^th couple facing out on the men’s side, WHILST 2^nd man & 3^rd lady, ALSO 2^nd lady & 3^rd man, turn 1 ½ times right hand to change places.

25 - 32          1^st couple with 2^nd lady & 3^rd man, ALSO 4^th couple with 2^nd man & 3^rd lady, dance a reel of 3 on the side lines. To start, 1st couple in promenade hold pass the 2^nd lady by the left, WHILST 4^th couple also in promenade hold pass the 3^rd lady by the left. On bars 31-32 the 4^th & 1^st men cross their lady in front & dance out to 2^nd & 3^rd places respectively, to finish in the order 2 4 1 3, with 1^st & 3^rd couples now on the wrong sides of the set.
