Dance Instructions for Dancing In 2000            Reel          4 x 40

Dance devised by Isobel Morris and Marion Lines to celebrate the year 2000.

 

1 – 8            The ‘2’

                   The 1st man dances the shape of a 2 by dancing down behind the 1st and 2nd ladies, crossing to dance down behind the 3rd man and across to the ladies’ side. On bars 7 and 8 the 1st lady casts to meet her partner, as he dances up behind 3rd lady.

9-16             1st couple dance between the 2nd and 3rd ladies to dance reels of three across the dance, 1st lady with the 2nd couple, 1st man with the 3rd couple. (In each reel all take partner’s hand where possible). 1st couple finish in the center facing up.

17 – 24          2nd, 3rd and 1st couples dance reels of three on the sides. To start the reel the 1st couple dance up between the 2nd couple and cross to their partner’s side of the dance. 1st couple finish in the center facing down.

25 – 32          3rd, 1st and 4th couples dance reels of three on the sides, the 1st couple dancing down between the 3rd couple to start and finishing in 3rd place, on opposite sides.

33 – 36         The first ‘0’

The 2nd and 3rd couples circle to the left while the 1st couple cast behind the 4th couple and cross to own sides.

37 – 40         Completing the ‘2000’

                   The 2nd and 3rd couples circle back to place while the 4th and 1st couples circle to the left.

 

Repeat with a new top couple.
