Dance Instructions for Dancing In 2000            Reel          4 x 40

Dance devised by Isobel Morris and Marion Lines to celebrate the year 2000.

1 – 8            The ‘2’

                   The 1^st man dances the shape of a 2 by dancing down behind the 1^st and 2^nd ladies, crossing to dance down behind the 3^rd man and across to the ladies’ side. On bars 7 and 8 the 1^st lady casts to meet her partner, as he dances up behind 3^rd lady.

9-16             1^st couple dance between the 2^nd and 3^rd ladies to dance reels of three across the dance, 1^st lady with the 2^nd couple, 1^st man with the 3^rd couple. (In each reel all take partner’s hand where possible). 1^st couple finish in the center facing up.

17 – 24          2^nd, 3^rd and 1^st couples dance reels of three on the sides. To start the reel the 1^st couple dance up between the 2^nd couple and cross to their partner’s side of the dance. 1^st couple finish in the center facing down.

25 – 32          3^rd, 1^st and 4^th couples dance reels of three on the sides, the 1^st couple dancing down between the 3^rd couple to start and finishing in 3^rd place, on opposite sides.

33 – 36         The first ‘0’

The 2^nd and 3^rd couples circle to the left while the 1^st couple cast behind the 4^th couple and cross to own sides.

37 – 40         Completing the ‘2000’

                   The 2^nd and 3^rd couples circle back to place while the 4^th and 1^st couples circle to the left.

Repeat with a new top couple.
