Dance instructions for CORRIEVRECKAN Medley 64 S/64 R Dance devised by Arthur C. Boswell. Four couple square set. Strathspey1 - 8 All couples set to each other, then men dance across in front of partner and lady on right and behind lady opposite to corner. All turn corners right round (both hands) finishing beside her. 9 - 16 Repeat but with ladies dancing in front of partner and man on left and behind man opposite to turn new corner. 17 – 32 Repeat bars 1 – 16 from new positions. 33 –40 All dance double men’s chain. 41 – 44 Head couples half rights and lefts across dance. 45 – 48 Side couples repeat. 49 – 56 All dance double ladies’ chain, omitting polite turn at end. 57 – 64 Grand chain, one hand per bar with men traveling clockwise. i.e. start by giving right hand to corner.
Reel1 – 56 Repeat in reel time but including polite turn on bar 56. (Turns in first 32 bars are with the right hand) 57 – 64 Eight hands round and back.
Dedicated to Frank Riley, Chairman of the Lakes Scottish Country Dancing Club, forester, sailor, mountaineer and much more besides. Frank loved a challenge. Corrievreckan was one of his favourite places.
