Released on the Smiddymade label, 'Raggles to Riches' is the latest album release by the talented Scottish band The Prodigals (formerly known as Prodigal Sons and Marcy d'Arcy). The new album has built on the successful blend of the 'sensitive' with the 'dynamic' which characterised their debut album 'The Anvil'. On this release they have also developed two new important strands to their sound: the use of a wider range of percussion such djembe and congas and the inclusion of original compositions.  The addition of singer-songwriter Kenny Miller to the line up has encouraged the band to focus more on self-composition resulting in four of the strongest songs on 'Raggles to Riches'.  These strands combine together to present an exciting, eclectic mix of traditional and contemporary Celtic sounds.

"..They have the potential to be huge......" KAZU Radio, Monteray, California

".....pure and poignant singing, dynamic fiddle and flute melodies and formidable rhythmic wallop - a winning mix....." The Scotsman

"This is one hell of a fine album, and I can give you fourteen good reasons why...none disappoint...a great album which you miss at your peril"

The popularity of "THE ANVIL" was such that the tune "Waiting for the Federals" (track 4) was used by a major Scottish company for an extensive T.V. advertising campaign in the three weeks around Christmas.  Played over 400 times in that period on channels such as M.T.V., Sky One and U.K.Gold, the advert, which features 40 seconds of the band's music and live footage of the band's fiddle player Eddy Hanson, ran again in March 1996.

"One of he finest bands to have come out of Edinburgh, The Prodigals play traditional folk and contemporary Celtic music to quite stunning effect."
