SCOTTISH CEILIDH BAND - CRAIGENROAN

This superb Scottish ceilidh band are based in Central Scotland within easy striking distance of Glasgow and Edinburgh but they also play all over Scotland and England whether it be Inverness, Ayr, Aberdeen, Perth, Dundee, Alva, Hamilton in fact too many to mention. They are also a truly International ceilidh band having made several trips abroad including Mexico and Azerbaijan.

The band play lively sets of Reels, Marches and Jigs for such well known set dances as Strip the Willow, The Dashing White Sergeant, Broun's Reel, Virginia Reel and many others which they will teach you if required! Blending this with couple dances such as Waltzes, The Gay Gordons, Britannia Two-Step,  St Bernard's Waltz and the Canadian Barn Dance. The band is continually adding new dances to there repertoire from Scotland and Ireland whilst picking up the odd dance from their world travels!

- You name it we’ve played there – from a rock on Arisaig beach to the Baku Hilton!

- The core musicians in the Band are Frank Leighton, midi accordion : Mike Garner : Electric fiddle, mandolin and banjo : Alan Stevenson : Bodhran, assorted percussion, whistles, vocals and caller : Willie Heuer, Guitar.

 

- The band can be expanded as required, calling on a number of skilled players who have been associated with the Band since its inception.

- If you require the addition of a disco to compliment the Ceilidh Band sound, we would be happy to discuss the various options available.

 

- The second generation of Craigenroan have now joined the Craigenroan extended family: Kay Leighton, a champion Highland Dancer both demonstrates the dances and gives exhibition displays of Traditional Dancing. : Jill Stevenson is a composer, vocalist and flautist in the Celtic tradition.

 

- This Scottish Band are expert in the playing and teaching popular Scottish, Irish and English ceilidh dances and introduce new and unusual dances, selected from their foreign trips, to their repertoire on a regular basis.

 

- Vastly experienced and professional, the band is equally at home playing for large corporate functions, private parties, ceilidhs or small intimate weddings.

 

- The Band come in a choice of colour co-ordinated kilts or matched Isle of Skye or Red McGregor tartans.

 

Craigenroan's debut album, Testing The Water, brings a breath of fresh air to Scottish traditional dance music. The album features thirteen of the most popular Ceilidh Dances including The Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant, St Bernard's Waltz,  Canadian Barn Dance, Eightsome Reel, Military Two Step, Pride of Erin Waltz, Strip the Willow, Virginia Reel, Cumberland Square Eight, Flying Scotsman, Waves of Tory, Orkney Strip the Willow.
