HEATHER INNES / CIARAN DORRIS
Both powerful and well-respected artists in
their own right, Ciaran and Heather met during the Belfast folk
scene in the eighties. Ciaran is a native of that city and
Heather was living there at the time and playing at the Old
Sunflower Folk Club. Ciaran has played all of the major clubs &
festivals in Ulster and since moving to Glasgow some years ago
has received acclaim for his songwriting ability from the
legendary Billy Connolly, among others. Heather, now a resident
of Blairgowrie in Perthshire, has toured in many countries -
solo and with various duos & bands - and brings an International
flavour to the duo's set. They have performed together at a
number of UK folk clubs and festivals and showcased at the Folk
Alliance in Nashville.
With his zany sense of humour, accomplished
guitar playing style and warm vocals, Ciaran is perfectly
matched by Heather's gentler (but equally humorous) approach.
The unpredictability and fun of their banter with the audience
makes their live shows a treat not to be missed - it takes a
brave person to sit in the front row during one of their
concerts! Together, it's not just their ability to interpret and
deliver good songs that sets them apart when playing live - they
create a hilarious atmosphere on stage one minute and move into
a powerful emotive ballad the next. Ciaran's gentle guitar
backing compliments a number of Heather's songs but she is also
a fine a cappela singer and his sensitive harmony vocals are the
perfect backing to her powerful ballads and gentle Celtic
lullabies.
Waiting For The Calm, Ciaran and Heather's
latest release, is a unique collection of songs from songwriters
ranging from Mike Silver to Bob Dylan, Colum Sands and Ciaran
himself.
